Alec Laethem
Alec is the Founder and CEO of KPL Insurance, a firm he established to help owners and operators regain control of their insurance programs. He advises developers, owners, and operators of commercial real estate portfolios exceeding $1 billion in total insurable value, aligning risk management with overall investment performance.
Working closely with private equity firms, family offices, and M&A-driven organizations, Alec helps clients navigate complex insurance markets, safeguard asset value, and support successful transaction execution. As both an advisor and an owner-operator, he brings a practical, results-oriented perspective on how risk decisions impact cash flow, valuations, and long-term outcomes.
He holds a B.A. in Economics and Entrepreneurship from Florida State University. Outside of work, Alec’s greatest joy is his family—his wife, Alexis, and their daughter, Quinn. He also enjoys surfing, golfing, and exploring new destinations.

Billy Jernigan III
Billy is a Commercial Risk Advisor at KPL Insurance with eight years of industry experience, including time at AIG as a Management Consultant streamlining underwriting and claims processes. His background provides a strong understanding of both the carrier and client side of insurance.
Spearheading KPL's multifamily practice, Billy works diligently with CRE owners and operators, investment sales professionals, and debt brokers to evaluate insurance costs, develop tailored risk strategies, and reduce premiums to protect their bottom line—particularly for properties in catastrophe-exposed areas.
Outside of work, Billy enjoys cooking, working out, golfing, following Georgia football, and traveling.

Teanna LaCoste
Teanna is a bilingual Commercial Lines Account Manager with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a professional background in education. She has always been driven by a desire to understand people and help them navigate complex challenges.
Her passion for delivering thoughtful, solution-focused guidance led her to the insurance industry in 2017. She began her career in personal lines before transitioning to commercial insurance, where she developed a strong specialization in real estate.
At KPL, Teanna works closely with producers as a key partner in designing and maintaining tailored insurance programs that meet each client’s unique needs. She plays an integral role in both strategic planning and day-to-day account servicing.
In her free time, you can find her at the beach or catching a flight. She enjoys immersing herself in sunshine and exploring new cultures.

Joe Hellow
Joe is a Commercial Risk Advisor specializing in HOA and condominium insurance solutions across Florida. He applies a disciplined, solutions-driven approach to help associations and unit owners navigate today’s complex insurance market.
Joe’s career began in the United States Navy from 2008 to 2012. As a Damage Controlman Second Class and Fire Marshal aboard the USS Roosevelt, he developed a strong foundation in risk assessment and leadership under pressure.
Today, Joe works closely with condo and HOA boards, property managers, and unit owners to structure competitive insurance programs. He focuses on simplifying the process and ensuring clients are properly protected while controlling costs.
Outside of work, Joe is married to his wife Gabriela, and they have three children: Audriana, Anthony, and Victoria. He also manages his son’s travel baseball team, where he is passionate about developing young athletes and teaching the fundamentals needed to succeed on and off the field.

George Guerra
George is a Commercial Risk Advisor at KPL Insurance, focused on helping property owners and investors structure more efficient, well-positioned insurance programs.
George works with property owners and operators nationwide, helping them navigate an evolving insurance market by improving coverage clarity, increasing market competition, and identifying opportunities to reduce overall cost while strengthening program structure.
He specializes in industrial and retail assets, with additional experience across multifamily and mixed-use portfolios, and takes a hands-on approach to building tailored solutions that align with each client’s long-term investment strategy.
Born and raised in South Florida, George grew up in the Florida Keys. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and brings a culturally diverse perspective shaped by extensive travel throughout the U.S. and South America. Outside of work, he is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt who spends his time training for competition, fishing, and staying connected to nature.
